You upload a photo, the platform auto-crops it into a circle or square, and somehow your head is now half out of frame. Most profile picture tools crop automatically from the center, which only works if your face happens to be centered in the original shot.

Why This Keeps Happening

Profile photo fields are almost always a fixed shape - usually square or circular - but the photo you're uploading rarely starts out in that shape. Something has to be cut to fit, and most platforms don't ask you where to cut it; they just crop from the middle and hope for the best.
